The plot is based on the 6th episode of the series: Casting the Runes. In it, the swindler Rifkin steals magic runes from the museum, touching which opens a portal to another world and condemns the “chosen one by the runes” to eternal service to the demon Kalil. Rifkin uses runes to take revenge on the offenders, and Eduardo becomes one of the chosen ones. In the alternate world of Xxxtreme Ghostbusters, Kylie, not Eduardo, touches the cursed rune.
